I’m Charly Brun, I’m a Data Consultant at Experteam and an expert on Power Bi.
My day-to-day job involves developing tools to enable our clients to analyse their data faster and boost their productivity.
These tools save my clients – who are both operational and support departments – hours of calculation in Excel spreadsheets.
They need automatic access not to data but processed information, metrics and intuitive dashboards so they can make the right decisions and manage their projects more effectively.
In addition to implementation and development, I also do a lot of training for our clients’ staff so they have the necessary know-how to adapt and upgrade their tools in line with their changing needs.
For example, I once worked with the Audit & Risk department of a major French railway company.
They were looking to develop an analysis and benchmarking tool to ensure automated analysis of the financial performance of their 800 subsidiaries.
On top of the tight deadlines, this was a particularly challenging project because the sources I was using for development kept changing.
In the end, I had to switch to an agile development mode to edit the source code of the tool and the matrix norms.
Meanwhile, some of the requirements concerning the visual part of the dashboard weren’t completely feasible, so we had to be creative and flexible and come up with new solutions to address the client’s needs.
The client was really pleased with the result: the audit team can now detect anomalies (say, a higher-than-average expense claim) much more quickly.
They’ve since asked us to handle the second phase of the project: Power Bi training for its auditors!
